Juicegoose
I'm nearly complete in the construction of my low entertainment center. The piece I'm having trouble with is the top. I know I'm going to have a plywood top that will be stained a dark expresso along with the crown moulding. The rest of the case is a antique white with glaze. Obviously a profile on the edge of ply isn't desirable. My thoughts are two fold 1. hardwood band the plywood and route a profile into the banding. Finishing it up with the moulding underneath. 2. cut the plywood at say 45 degrees and but it up against the back of the crown moulding that would be flush with the top of the plywood. Here is a picture of the cabinet I took last night. It's not finished but at a stage where I need to finalize what I'm wanting to do. Any ideas? TimV
I do your option #1 quite frequently. Here is a photo of a tv stand I completed in the same manner.
Rgraham888
I agree with Tim, that's a common technique, and I've seen router bit sets for putting V-shaped grooves into plywood edges and matching toungues into the banding.
