nikbrown
I haven’t had much time in the shop this summer as I’ve been building a coop for our ducks, managing a large garden and doing numerous outdoor things; but I had an itch to work with some hardwood so I decided to throw together a quick iPhone dock. I had some scrap Wenge and Cherry laying around so here is a quick gallery of the process: http://digitalwoodwo...en-iphone-dock/
duckkisser
nice easy project saw a similar one where the guy did inlays all around the edge. just looked at the digital wood worker page cant tell if the final product has the drill marks from drill or not but you might want to use a plunge router to make the bottom smoother. nikbrown
Yea I still have marks from the fostner bit... My router can't go in at the 11degree angle I wanted (unless I built a ramp).... I'll probably go back with some epoxy I dye black and just pour a thin layer on the bottom.... If the marks bug me. duckkisser
another really simple solution that i did for a set of coasters was i glued a quarter thick maple piece and a walnut piece together. i drilled the hole threw the maple and walnut and finaly glued on a second piece of walnut on the bottom i bet you could do something very similar to your project drill a hole in the top layer like you did then glue on a bottom section then you can do the rest f the work for your doc.
