Pbmaster11
I am looking on some info, tips, tricks about making a router table (table top size). What is a good dimension for the top? What is a good way to recess the router insert? What is a good material for the top? Melamine (spell check)? Any other info is great! Rick LoDico
Melamine works fine for a top. Double it up or add some 1/2" mdf for thickness. Here's a template for routing out the insert opening. http://www.woodpeck.com/inserttemplate.html
Bram
I've made mine out of 2 layers of melamine coated 3/4" particleboard glued to eachother. My routertable top is 2 x 3 feet, which is ideal for me and for most tasks.
Pbmaster11
what about putting it into my table saw? Anyone have any good pictures of these combo's?
dwacker
what about putting it into my table saw? Anyone have any good pictures of these combo's Mine came with the router table. All it is is 3/4 melamine with a plywood webbing underneath. The lift also came with it but cutting the opening for your own is easy with just a scrap plywood frame and router. Make sure you support it well underneath bigger routers and lifts can get heavy.
Dan S
My top is 3 layers of 3/4" MDF edge banded in red oak, and covered top & bottom with Formica. http://www.dans-hobbies.com/category/woodworking/router-table/ I have heard several people recommend against putting it in the, saw, as they say it was always in the way. I would tend to agree especially if you use a router fence. I dont use mine enough to worry about it. But if space is limited they sure do help with that. If space is an issue in your shop, putting it into the wing of the TS is a viable option. I've made cabinets, bought tables and put one in the wing of the saw. Pbmaster11
I am debating on purchasing this and putting in my TS or building a small table stop cabinet for it. Or just building a small table top cabinet router.
