Southwood
What type and brand respirator do you use in the shop. For some reason, the older I get the more I dislike coughing up toothpicks.
duckkisser
my brother gave me a 3m brand that his company had but they went to the full face respirator and now they have all these half masks siting there.
davestanton
Hi Southwood. I did a quick video about the respirator I use. I am 53 and like you, have decided that my bullet proof years were behind me. Have a look if you want to. Cheers, Dave.
Southwood
Dave, I can't find a dealer for that here in the states. Nice video, we do tend to take things for granted when we are young.
davestanton
I bought mine through these guys http://www.carbatec.com.au/ They are very helpful people. Send them an email and ask some questions, like postage and if there is a retailer in the states.
Southwood
Might have to give them a shout. When I went to the site, it ask for the closest store to me. I chose Perth. Figured it really didn't matter

thewoodwhisperer
I use the 3M 7500 series. I have a post on the site about it here: http://thewoodwhisperer.com/my-dust-mask/
Mister Pants
I replaced my old one about a year ago with a 3M 7503, it fits well and I can get a good seal with my goatee. Plus with the use of the little pink sandpaper disks it's light enough to be comfortably wearable, which means I actually use it, unlike my old one. Pinto
...I can't find a dealer for that here in the states... Southwood, here's a link to a (perhaps "the") US distributor: http://www.interactivesafetyproducts.com/pages/pureflo---respiratory-powered-air-helmets/light-duty---purelite-xstream.php Apparently, they're in Charlotte, NC. The price is a rather steep imo: US$450.
davestanton
Pinto, well done with locating the purelite. The price they are asking is cheaper than I paid in Australia. If mine was stolen or somehow misplaced I would replace it in a heartbeat.
stahlee
I own a few PAPR models: 3M Clearvisor Adflo 3M Breathe Easy 1 System 3M Airstream The Clearvisor Adflo is the best system I've ever used. Take a look in the Turners Forum and you'll see recent chat about respirators. I gave reviews of models I currently own and ones I've previously owned.
