jhl.verona
A very simple project, but one that requires some precision drilling the holes (I built a quick jig). Haven't seen these in other projects - maybe I didn't look closely enough. So, while I apply the finish to it over the next few days, I'll leave you with an equally simple question, what is it? Humourous replies greatly appreciated - no it's not an antenna for WoodTalk online radio (but wouldn't that be cool?) John
alindsey
My guess - something used to wind yarn? Either that, or a shavehorse for a gnome.

Rapid Roger
I have NO idea what it is but, it will NEVER FLY! It MIGHT float depending on the wood used. Rog
Nick2cd
John, it's very nicely done and you obviously have talent, but i think your rendition of a wooden reindeer head lacks some detail. I can tell you are in the Christmas spirit so i'll offer up this short video. enjoy!

jhl.verona
Well, the first coat of boiled linseed oil is dry-ish, giving a nice golden tint, so here are the final photos. I'll add a couple of coats of shellac, for no other reason than I've never tried it before... Obviously it really is, er, just a simple plate holder. However ... using Duckkisser's scale, the plate is 2 feet in diameter! Love the funny replies, shavehorse for an elf (staying in season ) - nice, Ukulele stand - could be, framed art - actually yes, perhaps a photo too, won't fly but might float? Of course it flies, takes off from the water too Reindeer head - that was really good, if I make a wooden shield it'll go on the wall ... and I've been humming that damned song all day long Door stop with built in antenna - wood tech security devices Inc, I can just see it now. Paper football, paper? I'd have thought at least wood not paper... Thanks for the contributions, it made a very simple project much more interesting. Donkeeeey, yeah... La la, la lalalalaaaa. duckkisser
i think by my calculations that plate would be much larger maybe 4 feet and then its still small

jhl.verona
Star Trek Slingshot - nice. Must buy some elastic. My own idea would be a rich man's tie rack, you know, for those who own two ties. Still like the reindeer's head though - very artistic...
