damnHippie
I'm making a tabletop that will be 16" x 16". I plan to make it 3/4" thick. I have a 36" long walnut board that is 1/2" thick and 18" wide. My plan is to cut the board in half then laminate the two pieces together to get the right thickness. My question is, would it be better to glue the boards together with the grain parallel or perpendicular to each other? Would a perpendicular grain orientation negate any wood movement issues (like plywood), or would it exacerbate them?
dwacker
Parallel only.
TimV
+ a million on the parallel only if you're using glue only.
Bobby Slack
Avoid cross grain movement. Always in the same direction.
