StrangeRANGER
My wife asked me to veneer her laptop for her. She has a Macbook Pro that is aluminum. Any thoughts on what type of adhesive should be used so it could be removed in the future without damaging the shell? Thanks, David Wife "Ooh, look at this cool wood laptop skin can you make one?" Me "I could, but its only $30.00 you should buy it." Wife "So with all those fancy tools, your telling me you can't make a skin. I'll bet Mark could do it, you watched all those videos why don't you ask Mark how to do it...yada yada yada"
Ben@FineWoodworking
I don't know... for thirty bucks I think I'd buy one too. Unless of course you can turn it into a new tool or twelve!

thewoodwhisperer
I have had many requests for laptop skins and iPhone/iPad cases (to make on the show). As a general rule, I don't compete with CNC machines, lol. Given the fairly low price of wooden cases, I could never justify putting that many hours into something that will likely be of less quality. DennisL
You could order it all secret like, spend a few hours in the shop working on something else, and then take all the credit!!
mikem
Not to mention, you put all that work in, and it goes away a couple years later when the machine gets upgraded.
Texfire
Her: Honey what's this writing on the underside? Him: It's my maker's mark, I put it on everything I make. Her: But why does it say, "Made in China"? Him: Because that's my new mark.
dwacker
You could order it all secret like, spend a few hours in the shop working on something else, and then take all the credit!! Not without buying that new domino that you MUST have to make the thing.
StrangeRANGER
I think ordering one is the best option, unless I can talk her into a CNC machine. I think I will use the it will be a bonding experience building one with our teenage boys, not to mention the education they will receive...then again I won"t hold my breath.
